The guideline is about diagnosing and managing suspected lower urinary tract infection (UTI) in adult women. 

 This booklet is for adult women (16 and over) who may have:

  • symptoms of suspected lower UTI
  • repeated episodes of UTI

Family members, friends and carers may also find the booklet helpful.

The booklet explains:

  • what a lower UTI is
  • how a lower UTI is diagnosed
  • how a lower UTI is treated
  • how repeated UTI is treated
  • how a lower UTI is diagnosed and treated if you have a catheter
  • where you can get more information.

The guideline is based on what we know from current medical research. It also gives advice based on the opinion of healthcare professionals who are trained on how best to manage your care.
