Cardiac arrhythmias in coronary heart disease
This booklet is for patients with cardiac arrhythmias and their families and friends.
A cardiac arrhythmia is the name for what happens when your heart doesn’t beat to its usual rhythm. The booklet is based on the recommendations from a national clinical guideline about how to look after patients with cardiac arrhythmias.
The booklet will help to make patients and their families aware of the tests and treatment they should expect to receive from the NHS. It t also gives advice on what to do if someone has a cardiac arrest.
The type of arrhythmia a patient experiences is related to the heart problem they have.
The booklet explains arrhythmias commonly experienced with:
- cardiac arrest;
- acute coronary syndromes;
- chronic coronary artery disease; and
- coronary artery bypass graft surgery.
