Brief details of the strategy used to search for evidence are provided in an annex to each SIGN guideline, including key search terms used, time period covered, and sources consulted. Sources may include electronic databases (e.g. MEDLINE, EMBASE, CINAHL), databases of systematic reviews (e.g. the Cochrane Library, DARE). The literature search should address each of the key questions (see item 2). More detailed information is available for some recent guidelines on the SIGN website, or on request from the SIGN Executive.
