General comments
The strategy for this guideline was very difficult to develop due to the
large number of topics covered, and the need to pick up consequences
of cancer treatment
that often occurred several years after treatment. The strategy listed
here is the final one worked out by an Information Officer in conjunction
with
a member
of the guideline development group. In view of the complexity of the
subject, all types of study were searched for together rather than following
the
iterative approach advocated in SIGN
50.
The following are listings of the main Medline strategies
used for this guideline. All conventions and symbols are from the Ovid implementation
of Medline.
Strategies used in other databases were substantially the same,
though different terminology
may have been used to take account of different thesaurii used
in non-Medline databases.
Search filters were added to identify studies of a particular type
(guideline, systematic review, etc.) Listings
of the search filters used by SIGN
can be found on the SIGN Web site.
