[Guideline cover]REMIT OF THE GUIDELINE

This guideline provides recommendations based on current evidence for best practice in the management of acute upper and lower GI bleeding. Upper GI bleeding is that originating proximal to the ligament of Treitz; in practice from the oesophagus, stomach and duodenum. Lower GI bleeding is that originating from the small bowel and colon.
